Cantrall rates Bowling Green, Scott Co., Highlands 1-2-3

Two-time defending Class 5A champion Bowling Green is No. 1 in Dave Cantrall’s first football power ratings of the season.

The Purples beat St. Xavier last week for the third year in a row and their 32nd consecutive victory.

Scott County is at No. 2, the top-rated team in Class 6A, and six-time defending state champ Highlands is at No. 3, the highest ranked team in Class 4A.

A team has to play at least two games against in-state competition, for Cantrall to rate them, so 10 teams have not yet done that and are not included in these ratings: Beechwood, Fulton County, Grant County, Henderson County, Johnson Central, Lynn Camp, Russell, Trinity, Todd Central and Western.

The ratings of all the qualifying teams in the state will be on Kentucky.com and in the Herald-Leader print edition on Monday.
